On the Interpretation Of the Local Dark Matter
The cause of the extended rotation curves of galaxies is investigated. It is shown that conventional sources and most exotic sources for the needed gravitational fields are implausible. We suggest spatial fluctuations in a scalar field, similar to the inflation field, are responsible for the gravitational fields. These fluctuations play the role of ‘dark’ halos around galaxies. They take ∼ 10 y...
متن کاملExtreme scattering events and Galactic dark matter
“Extreme Scattering Events” (ESEs) are attributed to radio-wave refraction by a cloud of free-electrons crossing the line-of-sight. We present a new model in which these electrons form the photo-ionized ‘skin’ of an underlying cool, self-gravitating cloud in the Galactic halo. In this way we avoid the severe over-pressure problem which afflicts other models. The UV flux in the Galactic halo nat...
متن کاملExploring the Mirror Matter Interpretation of the Dama Experiment: Has the Dark Matter Problem Been Solved?
The self consistency between the impressive DAMA annual modulation signal and the measured recoil energy spectrum is identified as an important test for dark matter candidates. Mirror matter-type dark matter passes this test while other dark matter candidates, including standard WIMPs and mini-electric charged particle dark matter , fail. We argue that the unique properties of mirror matter-typ...
متن کاملDecaying Neutralino Dark Matter in Anomalous U ( 1 ) H Models
In supersymmetric models extended with an anomalous U(1)H different R-parity violating couplings can yield an unstable neutralino. We show that in this context astrophysical and cosmological constraints on neutralino decaying dark matter forbid bilinear R-parity breaking neutralino decays and lead to a class of purely trilinear Rparity violating scenarios in which the neutralino is stable on co...
متن کاملDark matter interpretation of recent electron and positron data.
We analyze the recently released Fermi-LAT data on the sum of electrons and positrons. Compared to a conventional, pre-Fermi, background model, a surprising excess in the several hundred GeV range is found and here we analyze it in terms of dark matter models. We also compare with newly published results from PAMELA and H.E.S.S., and find models giving very good fits to these data sets as well....
